Alien Solution

Your challenge to explain how an alien creature you have created will help solve a problem and improve life on Earth.
This challenge is a two-part problem.
In Part 1 you will have 5 minutes to complete a hands-on task and plan for Part 2. You may talk to each other.
In Part 2 you will have 2 minute to present your solution.
You may ask the judges questions once time begins; however, time will continue.
During Part 1 you will be given materials to build an alien creature which you will present during Part 2.
Your team must use only the materials you have been given to build one creature. The creature may be anything your team chooses.
During Part 2 your team will have 2 minutes to explain how the creature will help solve a problem and improve life on Earth. You may present your solution in any way your team chooses.
Your presentation must include the name and a description of your alien creature and an explanation of how your creature will provide the answer to make Earth a better place.
Setup:
Provide the team with the following materials:
Scissors (to cut with only)
Markers (to draw with only)
2 pieces of construction paper
6 pipe cleaners
1 styrofoam cup
5 straws
12" by 12" piece of aluminum foil
Paper Bag
10 address labels
5 mini-marshmallows
2 plastic spoons
Scoring:
Overall creativity of the alien creature - 1 to 10 points
Presentation includes a name of the creature - 0 or 5 points
Presentation includes a description of the creature - 0 or 5 points
How well the presentation explains how the creature will make Earth a better place -1 to 10 points
Overall creativity of the Presentation - 1 to 10 points
How well your team works together - 1 to 10 points
Debrief:
Did the team plan how the the alien would be contructed ?
Did the team use the provided materials in creative ways?
Did the team do the required tasks?
How could the presentation of the Alien and its solution have been more creative?
Was time managed well?
