No Entry

You opened a door that says “Danger - Do Not Enter!” Your challenge is to say what happened when you opened the door.
You have 1 minute to think and 5 minutes to respond.
You may ask the judges questions once time begins; however, time will continue. You are not allowed to talk to each other at any time.
Judges:
Place two containers and spread 35 items randomly on the table within reach of all team members. Make sure team members surrender an item with each response. These items may be poker chips, coins, tokens, etc.
Be sure to give exactly 1 minute to think and 5 minutes to respond. Timing is critical. Team members responding as time ends may finish and be scored.
Scoring:
You will receive 1 point for each common response and 5 points for each creative response.
Tips for teams:
Is the team stuck? Look around the room for ideas. Build upon a previous response.
Speak loudly and clearly.
Before making a response team members should: pick up a token - hold it high - put it in the container - then give a response. This alerts the judges as well as the other team members so they don’t all give a response at once. If the token is placed in the container before giving a response - that isn’t a problem but a response must be given.
Tokens left on the table are lost points!!
Any response will be given a score whether the response is judged as being common or creative.
If a response is repeated a common score will be given.
Examples of Common Responses:
Predictable responses/Responses that don’t make sense or relate to the problem: “Nothing happened”; “It was scary”; “It opened to a brick wall”; “I closed my eyes”; “I didn’t like the sign”; “I ignored the sign”; “It’s nice”; etc.
Examples of Creative Responses:
Unusual/Humorous responses: “I found the answer to this problem”; “I went into a secret tunnel filled with candy”; “I closed it right away, didn’t notice the sign!”; “I found another sign that said really, really do not enter”; “It was the door to the future”; etc.
